The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has warned users of multiple vulnerabilities in Android OS which could allow an attacker to obtain sensitive information. As per the advisory, ‘Android 12, 12L, 13, 14’, are the affected software versions.
“Successful exploitation of these vulnerabilities could allow the attacker to obtain sensitive information, gain elevated privileges and cause a denial-of-service condition on the targeted system,” said the advisory by CERT-In, which comes under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology,
The agency says that these vulnerabilities exist due to flaws in the Framework, System, MediaTek components, Widevine, Qualcomm components and Qualcomm closed-source components.
CERT-In advisory for Google Chrome, Firefox browsersMeanwhile, CERT-In also issued advisories for users of Google Chrome and Firefox. It is to be noted that the advisory has been issued for the desktop version of Google’s web browser.
Google Chrome affected versions
As per the agency, multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in Google Chrome which could allow a remote attacker to cause Denial of Service (DoS) condition, information disclosure and execute arbitrary code on the targeted system.
“These vulnerabilities exist in Google Chrome due to Inappropriate implementation in V8, Use after free in Bookmarks and Out of bounds memory access in V8. A remote attacker could exploit these vulnerabilities by sending a specially crafted request on the targeted system,” it added.
Mozilla Firefox affected versions
In Mozilla Firefox, these vulnerabilities exist due to out-of-bounds access via Range Analysis bypass and Privileged JavaScript Execution via Event Handlers.
The cyber agency advised users to apply appropriate updates when available.
