The Trump name is on golf courses, skyscrapers, resorts, election ballots, wine and, soon, cider.
Eric Trump, the owner of Trump Winery in Albemarle County and the son of businessman, former president and current presidential contender Donald Trump, filed paperwork with the State Corporation Commission in November to establish a new business in the family name: Trump Cidery.
Trump Winery confirmed with The Daily Progress that it does indeed plan on opening a cidery at its Albemarle Estate south of Charlottesville, the former residence of socialite Patricia Kluge. Kluge converted the property into a vineyard and winery in 1999. Donald Trump acquired the property and business in 2011 before giving it to his son Eric. Today, it boasts the largest vineyard in the commonwealth of Virginia.
While the winery has not released an official statement, it did make the news Instagram official.

An Instagram account using the name Trump Cidery posted a video on March 6 depicting renovations taking place in the winery’s old tasting room, where a caption says the new winery will be based.
“Trump Cidery is on its way, and we’re crafting up some exciting plans as we renovate and revamp our prior Tasting Room for a whole new cider experience,” reads the caption on the video that had amassed 2,000 likes as of Wednesday.
Trump Winery staff have said the new Trump Cidery will operate out of the estate’s old tasting room.
Few additional details have been released by winery staff or posted online.
The Daily Progress reached out to Trump Winery inquiring about when the cidery will open, if the apples will be homegrown or purchased from an outside orchard and what inspired the move into the cider business. The winery did not answer.
The Trump Organization purchased socialite Patricia Kluge’s winery and estate in 2011.
Trump Winery is coming off a successful year. It won five gold medals in the most recent Virginia Governor’s Cup contest, the most of any winery in the Central Virginia wine country, known as the Monticello American Viticultural Area.
Although Donald Trump played a major role in the winery’s acquisition in 2011, the business has been owned and operated by his son Eric since 2012, trading as Eric Trump Wine Manufacturing LLC. Eric Trump is the executive vice president of the Trump Organization, his father’s holding company. During his presidency, the elder Trump placed the business in a trust, naming his sons Eric and Donald Jr. trustees. Amid Donald Trump’s ongoing reelection campaign, the Republican National Committee has named Eric Trump’s wife, Lara, co-chair of the organization.
