What to know about the week ahead

The Erie County Industrial Development Agency will discuss granting more than $1.1 million in tax breaks for a $16.8 million project to convert the former Emerald South nursing home building on Delaware Avenue into 83 apartments and a small commercial space.

The IDA also will consider $1.2 million in sales tax breaks for Lactalis American Group for its $44.5 million project to modernize its dairy plant on South Park Avenue in Buffalo.

Parachute Credit Counseling, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., Niagara County elected officials and other financial institutions will host a roundtable event to introduce the Bank On initiative and discuss banking access from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Doris Jones Family Resource Center, 3001 Ninth St. in Niagara Falls. One in five Niagara County residents are unbanked or underbanked. The groups will discuss best practices in providing affordable banking products and conducting outreach to unbanked people, to make sure everyone has access to safe, affordable bank or credit union accounts and economic success.
