LUBBOCK, Texas The Texas Tech Lady Raiders (2-0) are playing in their third-consecutive home game as they face the Lamar Cardinals at United Supermarkets Arena on Monday, November 13 at 6 p.m.

It will be the 11th time in program history that these two teams will face each other as the Lady Raiders are a perfect 10-0 against the Cardinals. Tech and Lamar (2-0) last played on Nov. 19, 2021 when the Lady Raiders came out with the 72-68 overtime win. This is also just the second time in this decade that Tech and Lamar have played one another.

Three Lady Raiders put up double-figure scoring in Tech’s victory over the Tarleton Texans. Senior Jordyn Merritt led the team with 18 points and shot 60 percent from the field with two three-pointers. Sophomores Bailey Maupin and Jasmine Shavers posted their second-straight game with double-digit scoring as Maupin went for 16 points and Shavers added 11 points in the game.

Maupin was all over the court on Friday night to help the Lady Raiders defeat Tarleton. Not only did she total 16 points in the game, going 6-of-12 from the field, but she also recorded four rebounds and a team-best three assists, two steals and one block against the Texans. In addition, she drew five fouls versus Tarleton and was 4-of-5 from the free throw line.

The Lady Raiders are starting their season with a .513 field-goal percentage which is 28th best in the nation and second in the Big 12 just behind Baylor’s .525 percentage. Individually, both Rhyle McKinney and Elina Arike lead the team with a .667 field-goal percentage on 6-of-9 shooting.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

Lamar started its season 2-0 with victories over Texas College (108-34) and at UT Arlington (74-57) and begins their season at 2-0 for the first time in five years. The 108 points against Texas College were tied for 10th most in a single game in program history. Against UT Arlington, the Cardinals were led by Sabria Dean with 30 points in the game, one point shy of a career best. Two others posted double-figure scoring – Akasha Davis (12) and T’Aaliyah Miner (10). The Cardinals total 91.0 points per game while holding opponents to just 45.5 points per game and a 32 percent field-goal percentage. Lamar’s head coach, Aqua Franklin, is in her fifth season overall and fifth at Lamar, where she totals a career record of 56-60.
