In this edition of Virginia Tech news, the football team has some news surrounding them ahead of bowl season and more.
Virginia Tech fans show out in 2023
If there is one thing that is true about Virginia Tech fans, they show up rain or shine or win or lose. That was the case for the football team this season. The Hokies sold out all five weekend home football games against Old Dominion, Purdue, Pittsburgh, Wake Forest, and North Carolina State.
Virginia Tech won three of the five games and not included in this was a Thursday night home game against Syracuse.
Da’Quan Felton had a game against Virginia
In Virginia Tech’s 55-17 blowout of Virginia Saturday in the Commonwealth Cup that also made the Hokies bowl-eligible, Da’Quan Felton had himself an afternoon. He finished with 133 receiving yards against the Cavaliers and a pair of touchdowns, good enough for the second-most receiving yards in the ACC in Week 13.
Felton had touchdown receptions of 84 and 34 yards in the third quarter against Virginia to help Virginia Tech get win No. 6 and officially become bowl-eligible. The list of receivers in the ACC that had good weekends was impressive and Felton was right near the top of that list.
Malik Washington of Virginia had 115 receiving yards against the Hokies, however, most of that was collected in the second half when the game was out of hand and the Cavaliers chasing multiple touchdowns.
Hokies wrestling returns to the mat in Las Vegas
After being off a couple of weeks, the Virginia Tech wrestling team returns to the mat Friday in Las Vegas at the Cliff Keen Invitational. The Hokies are coming off of four wrestlers claiming titles at the Keystone Classic on Nov. 18 and 19 in Philadelphia.
