Montana West Economic Development in partnership with Merit Financial Services holds a seminar on business succession planning options on Nov. 7 from 1-2 p.m. at its offices, 44 Second Ave., Kalispell. Many companies have little or no succession plan in place. When a founder or primary shareholder leaves the business there can be significant negative consequences for the company and the employees. An employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) is a type of retirement plan that allows companies to transfer ownership of the company to employees. Applicants must live in Flathead, Glacier, Lake, Lincoln, Mineral, Missoula, Ravalli or Sanders counties, and work in a tourism-related business or organization.
