It’s time for the second game of the 2023 season between the NFC East rivals in Philadelphia and Washington after the Eagles inched out an overtime, 34-31 victory in Week 4.

While Philly is a clear favorite in Week 8, sitting on top of the division standings with a 6-1 record, we can’t forget who handed the Eagles their first loss last season. After starting this season off strong, though, the Commanders have taken a downfall, losing four out of their last five games.

Coming off a dominant win over the Dolphins, the Eagles have been enjoying the play of safety Kevin Byard and AJ Brown. The receiver been massive since the Week 4 meeting, when he had nine receptions for 175 yards and two touchdowns. Brown hasn’t had fewer than 100 yards in a game since, becoming the first player to receive for over 125 yards in five consecutive games since Calvin Johnson in 2012.

The Commanders are on track for a record themselves, though it’s not one of which to be proud. Sam Howell has been sacked 40 times through seven games, including five against the Eagles. He’s on pace to shatter the record (76) set by the Texans in 2002 with David Carr behind center.

There’s still one question to be answered come game time: Is Jalen Hurts back to full strength? The QB says he feels fine, but he sported a leg brace and limp in the second half of the game against Miami. He has not missed practice, but should he be unavailable, Marcus Mariota will play.
