There are only three more NCAA volleyball matches this season, and it begins with Nebraska vs. Pitt on Thursday night. 

The Huskers know all about national titles, winning five. But they haven’t won one since 2017; they lost to rival Wisconsin in the 2021 final. Almost no one has stood between them and this year’s title, though. Nebraska has taken the volleyball world by storm, from a record-setting crowd of 92,003 in Memorial Stadium to nearly going undefeated, all while starting four freshmen. The team was tested in the regional final against Arkansas, losing one set before winning the close match. 

The Panthers have the chance to take down the top-seeded Huskers in the semifinals. It’s Pitt’s third consecutive season in the final four, but it has never been to the championship game. The Panthers rallied from two sets down in the regional finals against rival Louisville to earn their ticket to Tampa, so they can never be counted out.

This semifinal match will be a defensive showdown. Nebraska and Pitt lead the nation in opponent hitting percentage, limiting opponents to .134 and .138, respectively. It’ll be a battle between the Panther poise and Husker hustle.

The second semifinal between Wisconsin and defending national champion Texas will begin approximately 30 minutes after Nebraska-Pitt ends.
